Ruth’s Last Day…

April 3, 2008

Ruth Ta Da

Ruth Kovach, choir director and organist at First Trinity for 35+ years played for her last official worship service this past Sunday. We thank God for her…we celebrate the thousands of times and ways she has helped us worship Him…we look forward to building on the great legacy she has left us.

You can listen to the part of the worship service where we thanked God for her and where she said a few words here.

  1. [...] gave over 12,500 days to serving the Lord at First Trinity.  In case you missed it, we’ve posted the audio from the end of the service where we specifically celebrate Ruth’s ministry among us.  We’re thankful for [...]

  2. Thank God for Mrs. Kovach. She is a great lady and has taught so many people such amazing skills. I remember her best when we all went out to her cottage on the lake with the children’s choir. We went swimming and had a really amazing time. THANK YOU MRS. Kovach

  3. Hey, Kirk!! Thanks for posting on the blog–it’s fun to know that you’re reading it! Sue

  4. Thank you for filling God’s house, our church, with music and touching so many lives throughout your years of service. You were willing to go above and beyond to teach and lead. The coolest thing I remember is when you let us take a tour of the “secret area”, using the “secret door” behind all the organ pipes. I just remember that being so fun! Thanks for everything! See you around church.

  5. Becky! Great to hear from you, too. We’ll make sure Ruth sees these comments…

  6. I remember the Vespers at Kleinhans & how Mrs. Kovach directed the children’s choir & the Martin Luther Choir and how we moved from spot to spot to sing. We also played in the tunnels underneath & had a ball! I also remember how she had us sit on the edge of our seats to get the best sound. Remember Nora? Thanks for the memories!

  7. I sang in Vespers for several years before we joined First Trinity. Sweet and talented Ruth was a huge part of the reason my family became members! I love you Ruth!

  8. The Apostle Paul’s words in Eph. 5:19 - 20 characterize well for us the week by week worship guidance of Ruth
at the organ, in front of the choir and the bell choir,
“…be filled with the Spirit, addressing one another in
psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making
melody to the Lord with all your heart, always and for
everything giving thanks in the name of of our Lord Jesus Christ to God the Father.” We thank Ruth for all
her preparation and practice to help us “make melody to
the Lord with all of ours hearts.” Danke schoen!

  9. Ruth certainly is sweet and talented. I remember thinking that from my first time meeting her. It was a joy to be in staff meetings with her and to get to see her so often these last 2.5 years!

  10. Ruth, Not sure what we all have done to deserve your presence amoung us as the leader of our traditional worship, choirs-singing and bells, both adult and childrens, plus our little orchestras! Oh and of course, Vespers for so many, many years. Through your encouragement, we got to hear our Lisa play her flute in your littls orchestra on special occasions.
Thank you for everything. See you on Sunday as we worship our Lord together.

  11. It has been a joy to work with Ruth in the bell choir, regular choir and Vespers choir for many years. She has been an inspiration to everyone who knows her.

  12. Ruth,
I can’t remember a day at First Trinity when you weren’t there. What a gift you have been to all of us.
I recall one day you were practicing a song with Megan and the music wasn’t written in the right key for her voice. So you simply (simply for you, not for anyone else) shifted your hands on the keyboard and started playing the same song in another key without written music in that key!! My gosh what talent you have!!! Love you Ruth
Megan always enjoyed singing with you

  13. Ruth
You are a gift from God. Not only do you possess great musical talents, but you are filled with the fruits of the Spirit. Your kindess and dedication have always been a blessing to me.
    See you on Sundays.
