People Matter Daily Devotional: September 10

September 10, 2009

A Word From God’s Word
Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us. Ephesians 3:20 (NASB)

A Word From Pastor Chuck
What gives your life meaning and value? We tend to look to the people most important in our life to reinforce our feelings of self-worth. We want to feel that our life matters. So we usually move toward the direction we are being encouraged and supported because we want our life to count.

The problem is all of us have sin: our parents, our spouses, our children, even one of our pastors has sin (I just can’t say which one). None of us are perfect. That means even those who love us will sometimes say hurtful or negative things. They won’t always encourage and support us.

But God is perfect and His love is perfect. He will always speak words of encouragement and support. He will always give our life meaning and value because we matter to Him. When we walk with Him and look to Him for meaning and value, He will never disappoint. In fact, He “is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think.” He will always do good things for us when we walk with Him because His power, His Spirit, works within us.

Rev. Chuck Whited is the Pastor at First Trinity.

A Word With God
Heavenly Father, help us to look to You to give our life meaning and value. Help us understand how much we matter to You, and that You only have our good in mind. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
